The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Hagari was established in January, 1995 under the administrative control of University of Agricultural Sciences, Raichur with an 100 per cent financial assistance by the ICAR, New Delhi. It is one of the innovative institutions with the mandate of imparting vocational training to the practicing farmers including, farm women, youth and extension functionaries about improved technologies in the field of agriculture, animal husbandry, fisheries and other allied enterprises. It has additional responsibilities of testing and refining the developed technologies and conducting frontline demonstrations of new technologies in the farmers field.
This KVK first started functioning in an old building of Agricultural Research Station, Hagari and in the second year it was shifted to separate new building in the same premises during 1999 – 2000.
The main building consists of staff rooms, a training hall, a diagnostic lab, soil, water and plant testing lab, Plant Pathology and Entomology laboratory and well furnished information centre. The other complementary facilities like staff quarters have been constructed by the funds released by the ICAR and farmers training hostel having capacity to accommodate 25 number of trainees was constructed out of MP grants of Bellary district.
The KVK of UAS, Raichur is situated near district headquarters at Agricultural Research Station, Hagari which is about 14 Kms away from the Bellary city and 190 Kms from Raichur.
